Sipping a Singapore Sling at The Long Bar in Raffles Hotel in Singapore. The Long Bar is where the Singapore Sling was invented, so you'd expect to get a great drink there. Unfortunately the Singapore Slings are pre-mixed and taste terrible and cost a fortune. The only highlight is being encouraged to throw the shells of the free peanuts on the floor, doing that any where else would like elicit a large fine, such are the numerous laws in Singapore.

Santa Cruz Island

At the Charles Darwin Research Station on Santa Cruz Island is a giant tortoise breeding center. They breed each of the species found on the islands and release them in to the wild.

Lonesome George is the last known member of the Geochelone nigra abingdonii subspecies of giant tortoise. Attempts to get him to mate with females of a closely related subspecies have so far failed.

Leaving the reseach station and heading north to the middle of the island, I first stopped to look at a pair of giant sinkholes and then to a small farm where a number of giant tortoises where living in the wild.

Land iguana enjoying a cactus leaf. While watching this iguana another approached and tried to steal the leaf. The two iguanas looked at eachother and made territorial motions towards eachother. The new iguana darted forward and managed to grap a small piece of the leaf before being chased off.
